Thank you for this very informative article about the issues facing our membership in responding to the UCSD purchase offer. I especially appreciate the easy access link via The Window. I found the answers to a lot of the questions and comments I made when Rev. Kathleen came to the Homestretch Sages meeting.
Undoubtedly, this is an issue that will take a lot of research and planning before we get to the point to offering our response. Several points that occur to me are:
1. Should we rely on UCSD's appraisal of our property or order one of our own? I recently had to have my condo appraised, after Bob's death, as part of the data included in our family trust documents. The cost of the appraisal wasn't cheap, but the condo's value in our appraisal is considerably higher than the offers of various realtors who are always on the prowl, looking for property and offering cash for immediate sales.
2. If we have to move, does their offer cover the costs of moving items like the Memorial Wall, the organ, or other such property?
3. How does Ace view the loss of revenue for us during and after the hospital's remodel?
