Unitarian Universalist Service Committee
UUSC advances human rights and social justice around the world, partnering with those who confront unjust power structures and mobilizing to challenge oppressive policies. UUSC envisions a world free from oppression and injustice, where all can realize their full human rights. The mission of UUSC is guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), as well as Unitarian Universalist principles, which affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person.
Service: UUSC responds to humanitarian crises such as earthquakes, hurricanes and tsunami.
Education: Water justice and the human right to water is a focus of UUSC. Witness: Economic justice is represented at our table on the patio each Sunday where we sell Fair Trade organic coffee at reasonable prices. A purchase supports small farmers so that their basic needs for food, education and healthcare can be met. Action: UUSC sponsors the Guest At Your Table program every December. The proceeds from change placed in small cardboard boxes in your home empowers people all over the world to stand up for their rights, to establish water systems, and to start small businesses. |
