Who can rent space?

Our church campus has facilities for meetings, classes, performances and other types of gatherings. The Meeting House was designed as an excellent performance venue for smaller musical groups and audiences (up to 500), as well as for worship services, speaker events and meetings. Church facilities and the parking lot are intended to be used for events that are sponsored by a church group, church member, or church staff member. A church group is a group associated with one of the Ministry Teams. This includes church affiliated organizations. Ministry Teams taken together make up the Ministry Team Council and are co-led by church staff and member lay leaders. A church member is a person who has signed a Bond of Union card and is designated as an active, voting member for at least six months. A voting member is defined as one who is contributing to a current pledge. Non-Profit outside groups may rent our facilities for appropriate uses. Such groups may include organizations of a charitable, civic and religious nature.
Rental discounts for social justice
To further the work of social justice, we provide discounted rentals to selected community organizations who meet the following criteria:
  • Be a registered 501(c)3 organization
  • Have a purpose which is consistent with Unitarian Universalist Principles.
  • Not conducting fund-raising purposes
For details download our Facilities Rental Discount Policy for Social Justice Community Engagement.

Available rooms for meetings, classes, ceremonies and more

The Meeting House
Our Meeting House is a newly-renovated auditorium featuring comfortable seating, and state-of-the-art audio. There is room for musicians, flowers, reception tables, and much more. There is a full pipe organ and a small green room where performers and participants can wait off stage. It is our largest venue with a capacity of 460-500 people.
Clark Chapel
Named after John Ruskin Clark, First Church minister from 1956 until 1977, Clark Chapel is a beautiful, intimate space for small weddings, concerts, and lectures. This west-facing room, with a small, exterior balcony has magnificent views of Dove Canyon, Mission Valley and beyond, to the USD campus. Leading down to the main floor, are four tiers of movable chairs. With tapestries on the walls and a renowned 6-foot Yamaha grand piano, this room has wonderful acoustics. The room is air-conditioned and has several banks of dimable lighting. There is wheelchair access to both the main floor and the top tier. It has a seating capacity of 70 people.
Bard Hall, Room 300
As our largest room in the Welcome Center, Bard Hall provides a congenial, pleasantly decorated open space, with plenty of natural light, an elegant entry hall and a surrounding patio area. The wall hangings consist of beautiful, interesting and diverse artistic works from the Church’s extensive art collection. The room is made ideal for dining by an adjacent, commercial standard kitchen designed to prepare quality meals for both large and small gatherings. Bard Hall has a seating capacity of 200 people.
Welcome Center Upper Level
The second floor of the Welcome Center has three carpeted meeting rooms which vary in size. Each has new carpet, wi-fi, and vaulted ceilings. Audio-visual equipment can be arranged and two rooms have direct access to an outdoor balcony and all are accessible via a central staircase and an elevator. Restrooms are on the same floor and coffee and tea facilities are located in the upstairs hallway.
Room 320 - Accommodates 15 people.
Room 321 - Accommodates 17 people.
Room 323 - Accommodates 35 people.
Patio and Church Grounds
In addition to our indoor facilities we also have a beautifully landscaped campus that features art, sculpture and a delightful fountain. If you're looking for a user-friendly outdoor space with access to a full kitchen and restrooms, our Patio is a great choice; it has sail shades and string lights.
