Young Adult Group (18-35)

Our Young Adult program is an open, welcoming space to connect with folks that aspire towards the Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego mission to build community, nurture spiritual growth, and act on our values to help heal the world. At our meetings we share what is on our hearts, souls and minds; play; get creative and curious; and plan outings and meaningful events; organize and host social justice actions.

Meetings: Tuesdays 6-7:30pm
We meet on Tuesdays from 6-7:30 PM in room 114B on the Hillcrest Campus. Throughout the week we continue to connect, brainstorm, plan and schedule events via our private Discord server. |

Outings
We have done a group ride at Saddle Up Ranch, a sanctuary for rescued horses, a group excursion to the UCSD Ropes Course, bonfire nights at Mission Bay and other fun bonding activities.

Some of our ongoing events include the Young Adult Book club, Game Days on campus (table games) and we plan and host the Annual Church Halloween Party.

Burrito Project
The Burrito Project is a program in which we make burritos together as a group on the Hillcrest campus and then go out into the community to distribute them to people in our communities who are experiencing homelessness. We are active in San Diego's downtown area and in Chula Vista, distributing upwards 100 burritos a month to our hungry neighbors. This popular program is funded through the Young Adult Ministry program and originated when one of our intern ministers named Stevie learned about it from the Burrito Project Los Angeles.

In August and September of 2024, the crew passed out over 125 waters and well over 100 burritos. Ten young adults prepared the burritos and six of us distributed the them together. Click any image for a larger view.

We also have opportunities in packaging and distribution shifts at the South Bay Food Pantry, the Uptown Community Center and the South Bay Diaper Pantry.
