Mission Statement

  • Provide a specific, visual, candid welcome to all those who come to First UU, especially LGBTQs, their friends and supporters.
  • Continue to increase the inclusive posture of First UU throughout all its programs, committees, and affiliated organizations, so that LGBTQs, as well as their friends and supporters, will continue to be safe and comfortable as members and friends of First UU.
  • Provide outreach to the community at large in the name of First UU (beyond the First UU campuses and activities) by means of leadership, spokespersons, and presence.

First UU San Diego at Pride
​Outreach
  • Annual participation in the Pride Parade and Festival.
  • Attendance and support at the Worlds AIDS day celebration.
  • Support of Mama’s Kitchen through Thanksgiving pie sales
  • Support Pink Haven Coalition
  • Participate in San Diego Pride's Light Up the Cathedral
  • Attend Trans Day of Remembrance at The Center
  • Gather at a Luncheon for Dining Out for Life

Education

  • Support for all LGBTQ actions.

Get Involved

  •  Attend our Rainbow Action meeting on the 2nd Sunday of each month in Room 323 11:15 am to 12 noon.
  • Attend our Rainbow Twilight Walk on the 4th Thursday evening of the month in Balboa Park.
  • Use your skills to plan organize, or present LGBTQ educational events.
  • Help advertise, sell, and distribute Thanksgiving pies for Mama’s Kitchen.
  • Volunteer one Sunday a month to staff the Rainbow Action information table on the patio.
  • Help plan, organize, and decorate the Pride float, and/or invite congregants in our church and others to join the parade.
  • Join us in speaking out and continuing our presence in our community.
