Mission Statement
Organizing for Justice serves as the local organizing committee in cooperation with San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP). Members determine the local needs and priorities of First UU in the area of social justice and represent our church at SDOP meetings. Our current Organizer from SDOP is Jeffrey Alonzo Karahamuheto.
San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP)
SDOP is a nonpartisan, multi-faith network of 29 congregations that represents more than 70,000 families across San Diego County. As one of the most diverse grassroots organizations in the region, we uniquely bridge racial, cultural and economic divides. We unlock the power of people to bring justice, equality, and greater opportunity to fruition in their communities. Together, we are building a new vision of what is possible in San Diego County. Activities
Over the last several years, SDOP actions include support for low cost housing, living wage, universal health care and San Diego youth programs. We currently attend city council and county supervisor meetings for important hearings to support the issues of the San Diego Organizing Project.
