Pledging
Donations and pledges can be made at our Pledging page or anytime by simply going to our Donation page. You may also make your pledge using your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) or Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA. Find out how.
Bed & Breakfast Program
Through our B&B Program, church members offer reasonably-priced lodging and a continental breakfast in their homes for short-term visitor stays with all proceeds benefiting the church. Would you like to meet interesting UUs from across the country? Put that spare bedroom to good use while providing service to other UUs, building community and supporting First Church. It's a great example of “Service is our prayer” in action! Learn more, sign up and help us spread the word.
Dining for Dollar$
Going strong for more than 10 years, Dining for Dollars is another one of our most popular programs. In it, hosts offer an event such as a dinner, museum tour, park party, craft workshop and then the rest of us bid on the offerings in a silent auction. 2015 was a record breaker with 147 events and over $60,000 contributed to the church’s budget! Donate your old vehicle
Do you have a car, truck, RV, motorcycle, or boat you’ve outgrown or no longer need? Don’t want to deal with the time-consuming work of selling it? Then donate it to us! Donating a vehicle is easy, stress-free, and a wonderful way to support this congregation's work. Learn more.
Online Shopping
First Church is a member of Amazon Smile and iGive. These are online shopping programs whereby a percentage of your purchases automatically go to First Church. You can also support the church and show your UU pride by purchasing t-shirts and other goodies at our online store. Visit our Shop & Support page to get started.
Gift Cards
Gift cards are sold periodically on the patio before, between and after services and provide a great way to support First Church while you shop for gas, food and other necessities. Check out our selection of cards for restaurants, gas & grocery stores, movie theaters and more. Even better – ask about online orders and be able to get e-cards anytime from home.
Planned Giving
Planned gifts can be made while you're alive or set up for after your death. Gifts by will, trust, cash, securities, and real estate are all examples of planned gifts. You can also designate First Church or its endowment fund as beneficiary to your IRA, 401K, life insurance policy, retirement plan, pension plan or other current or future interest in an investment or other significant asset. Generosity Ministry Team
The mission of the Generosity Ministry Team is to develop financial and spiritual resources for the current and future needs of First UU with integrity and with an awareness of the joy inherent in cultivating generosity as a spiritual virtue.
Our vision is to support the mission and goals of First UU by increasing the Generosity of our Congregation in terms of time, treasure, and talent.

- Create and support events and programs that engage a diverse, intergenerational, and intercultural community.
- Help to transform San Diego by being generous with groups that share our values, and those with which we can find common ground.
- Raise congregational awareness of how being generous impacts our First UU and the greater community.
- Intentionally engage all generations in activities and programs that provide opportunities to practice generosity of spirit and actions.
