San Diego's first and largest Unitarian Universalist congregation
Built in 1959, our Hillcrest campus is home to the first UU fellowship in San Diego which was founded in 1873, hence the name "First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego." Today our campus is home to a thriving congregation with dozens of programs, beautiful performance and worship spaces, well-equipped meeting rooms, a sparkling commercial kitchen, a multitude of committees and groups and an ever-evolving community of people who gather to worship, work and play. Art Collection
Our Church is home to an inspiring collection of beautiful art that has been commissioned, purchased and donated. Some of our paintings include "The Lake" by Charles Reiffel and "The Canyon" by Alfred Mitchell, both of which are on display in the entryway to Bard Hall. Visitors to our campus frequently remark on our Stele, the bubbling mosaic fountain and, of course, the stunning Memorial Wall featuring the names of departed members. The artwork reaches all the way out to the corner of our property with our mosaic Wayside Pulpit by San Diego public artist Lynn Susholtz.
