Thanks to your continuous and generous donations, the South Bay Food Pantry will be moving into a new suite immediately adjacent to the strip mall suites currently housing the worship space and social hall.
But, when are we moving?
We don’t have a move-in date yet!
We should get the keys to our new suite on October 1. We know we need to make some tenant improvements before the food pantry moves. Some of the improvements, such as replacing the exterior door, will require a general contractor. Our Operations Director, Robie Evans, is currently asking for bids for that work. But, right now, we have not even secured a contract with a general contractor. Once we do, we can then start ﬁguring out how long that work will take.
We will also have to do some tenant improvements inside the suite. Right now, it is being used as a martial arts studio. So, we will need to make some changes to convert the interior space so it is suitable for food and diaper distribution. We do not know how long that work will take, however, because no one — not even Robie — has actually seen the inside of the new suite yet!
Sometime after October 1, we should start to have an idea of when tenant improvements will be complete. We don’t know the answer to that right now. But, we’ll let you know when we know. Watch this space!
