We had a great turnout for our first forum as we vision the future. Rhiannon Smith, Board President led the forum and shared key points about our process. She gave a brief background of why we’re discussing this by sharing that we’re continuing the process that started two years ago, when UCSD approached us with their master plan which will have major implications for our Hillcrest campus. This, as well as their offer to buy some or all of our campus and the likelihood that the decline in our parking revenue will continue, led the board to start discussing ways to determine our options and inform the congregation so that you could eventually come to a decision. Rhiannon also shared how the Visioning the Future groups came to be, stating we formed four subcommittees to research and present information in the following areas: Go, Stay, Real Estate, and Negotiations; as well as the Core Team (which oversees the process as a whole).
We made a huge push for volunteers for these subcommittees through an e-blast, The Window, pulpit announcements, our website, appeals to small ministry groups, etc. Chairs were chosen based on interest and relevant experience. The leaders of the sub-committees were introduced and then we had time for questions and answers. A reminder: the recording of the 11/3 forum will be available until 11/11. On Tuesday, 11/12 the recording of the 11/10 forum will be available to watch. Stay tuned.

THIS SITE IS OUR HOLY, SACRED, RITUAL, SPACE. To even consider letting it go is, in my mind,
