As Rev. Tom Owen-Towle reminded us recently, things around us are always changing and the best approach to life is to be an ever-changing person. Tom's words have special meaning during our current pandemic. Of course not all change is for the worse. Our church's Interim Committee (Exec) recently decided to acquire large, side-less shade covers to accommodate outdoor worship services on our campus. Your Reopening Team agrees that this can work, starting Sunday Oct. 3. Well-fitting masks (the best are N95 or KN95) will be required at all times. Distancing must be observed between household clusters. Sorry, no hugs or hug-signaling bracelets. No social hour or patio tables. Bathroom use will be limited to one person at a time. And pre-registration (or on-site signing in for those who don't pre-register) will be required for all who attend.
Rev. Michael Brown, our Minister in Residence, will be a presence in the mix (perhaps like an extended version of the centering thought idea that appears in our order of service). Listen to Rev. Michael's wonderful self-introduction and other inspiring words. Continuing leadership for us at this time rests with the Interim Committee, the board, the worship team and others. Each of us as an individual member has a role to play in perseverance and commitment to the future. We encourage your embrace of this role as we try out various phases of the reopening process. Together, we'll get through this extended pandemic time. Happily, the next step is in-person, outdoor worship services on the Hillcrest campus patio starting Oct. 3. We prefer that you sign up ahead of time for contact tracing purposes. Pre-register for outdoor in-person worship services. If you do not have the ability to pre-register online call Rose at (619) 947-4612 for assistance. Remember to wear only well-fitting masks. Let's all stay safe!
