Do you want to help us create exciting events?

Help First UU become more of a “happening place” and promote more multi-generational, ethnic, racial, and class diversity at First UU, including greater offerings for events - among members, attendees and families. The Board has created a new board committee to administer the Outreach and Growth Fund (OGF) that was created as part of the generous Renewal and Growth Fund donation to the church in late 2021.  ​

The Outreach and Growth Fund Committee as a subset of the Renewal and Growth Fund consists of two members of the Board and three to seven members of the Church community which report to the full Board. The Board members on the committee will select the other members of the committee. The OGF Committee administers the gift allocation from the Renewal and Growth Fund to bring in speakers, music, groups, and events to our campuses, and to promote greater multi-generational, ethnic, racial, class diversity among members and attendees including events targeted toward families. The person(s) responsible for producing and promoting the events, need to have the skills and abilities to know what is current and timeless, to find suitable speakers and groups, and to promote and budget. The intent of the Outreach and Growth Fund is to make First UU a more happening place with the expectation that these events over time will result in more Sunday visitors, church members, pledges, and donations. The fund of $400,000 is intended to last 5 years, so approx. $80,000/year is available to bring speakers, music, events, groups to our campus (or via Zoom while Covid restrictions/precautions remain).  This includes enhancing First UU music groups and Looking Glass Theater and inviting outside community organizations, theater, new interest groups, speakers, and others– it’s open to the imagination! 
 
As the new co-chairs to this new committee, we are still getting our feet wet, but wanted to reach out to solicit input on a couple of items:  
 
First, we’re still working on final composition of the committee, and, in addition to two board members, we want to invite three to seven folks to include more voices from our church community. 
 
Secondly, we want to get your input, ideas and proposals for events or activities.  We’re brainstorming so we invite all ideas.  Please email us your ideas and/or interest in this exciting new adventure to increase the vibrancy, resilience, and voices of our church community.  Plan to keep the ideas coming as they occur to you, and if you are interested in joining the committee, please let us know by November 15.  Contact us at [email protected].
