We are excited to announce the return of our Social Justice Film Screening and Discussion Series for Fall 2026! This series brings our community together to explore compelling, thought-provoking documentaries that shine a light on global inequities, ethical dilemmas, and transformative human stories.

Each event includes a full film screening followed by an open, facilitated community conversation.

Our Fall 2026 lineup kicks off on September 17 with an eye-opening exploration into academic inequality and global labor dynamics.

About the Film
Captivated by the hidden, multi-billion dollar "fake essay" industry, Patricia Kingori—the youngest woman and Black professor in Oxford's 925-year history—enters the world of the "shadow scholars."

The film investigates the lives of roughly 40,000 highly educated, underemployed Kenyans in Nairobi who make ends meet by ghostwriting academic papers for students in the Global North. The Shadow Scholars raises fundamental questions about global labor disparities, higher education economics, privilege, and the systemic pressures surrounding contemporary academic integrity.
