Meditation or a similar process has become the cornerstone of the faith of many Unitarian-Universalists, whether their belief is agnostic, theist, or atheist, and whether their orientation is Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Islamic, or other. Many have found that their own personal mediation experience has been enhanced by the presence and support of others in group mediation.
A time of meditation and/or prayer is a center point of the Sunday morning service. In addition, before the first Sunday, a twenty minute silent sitting meditation is held in a room to be announced. Periodic adult education classes focus on mediation and a weekend meditation retreat is held every other year.
The Meditation/Buddhist Sangha meets regularly and includes a sitting meditation. Meetings are held in Clark Chapel Monday evening at 7 p.m. (twenty minute sit) and Wednesday morning 10 a.m. (forty minute sit) For more information contact John Holl at 619-546-6525 or e-mail johnholl@cox.net. |
