Peace and Democracy Action Group
The Peace and Democracy Action Group (PDAG) was formed in 2001 in an effort to enhance understanding of world events, advance efforts to achieve world peace, and to preserve our democracy. PDAG is part of the Social Justice Ministry of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego, CA.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide current and accurate information related to issues of peace and democracy through the use of email, information tabling, and our monthly Matters of Controversy series. We believe in the Unitarian Universalist principle of the inter-connectedness of all life. When there is war and suffering anywhere, we all suffer. We believe that the preservation of democracy and achievement of world peace requires a knowledgeable and active citizenry.
Matters of Controversy Lecture Series
Our presentations feature speakers, documentary films, theatrical productions and poetry readings that address issues related to peace and democracy. Click here for list of previous programs.
Volunteer Opportunities
We welcome new members and offer a variety of ways to become involved. These include brainstorming of ideas at our planning meetings; publicizing of events; networking with community organizations; organizing actions; staffing information tables; and doing research on line. You can make a difference, whatever amount of time you can give and whatever skills you may have to share!
Donations and Proceeds
At our events, we welcome your tax-deductible donations, which are used to further the work of PDAG and non-profit organizations that promote peace and democracy. Proceeds from our tabling activities are used for similar purposes.
