Now is the time to consider being a part of our children's journey!

Sign up to be in a Sunday classroom with our Children's Religious Education program!

 We have two great options:

Summer Children's Religious Education (June-August):

This is an excellent opportunity for those who would like to try out leading religious education or know they love it but can only commit to a couple of Sundays. You do not need to have a child in the program to lead a class! However, we ask that all participating families sign up for at least 1 Sunday over the summer. Volunteer commit to 1 Sunday at a time (no long term commitment). You will always be in the classroom with at least 1 other adult. Dr. Melissa will coach you through the prep and process the whole way! We are running two exciting programs this summer:

Beary UU Summer (lower elementary class):

Lead teacher commitment: prep time 30 minutes; Sunday morning commitment 9:15a to 10:45a plus clean up time.

Classroom assistant: no prep time (but may choose to share leadership with the lead); Sunday morning commitment 9:15a to 10:45a plus clean up time

Hogwarts SchUUl (upper elementary):

Lead professor: prep time 60 minutes; Sunday morning commitment 9:00a to 10:45a plus clean up time

Classroom assistant: no prep time (but may choose to share leadership with the lead); Sunday morning commitment 9:15a to 10:45a plus clean up time

Fall and Spring teaching teams (September through May/June)

This is a great opportunity for adults who would like to explore working with our children as a part of your own growth and spiritual journey. Non-parents are highly encouraged to sign up, though parents of participating children are welcome and often find this a great way to meet other families. You will always be in the classroom with at least 1 other adult. You will always be supported by staff and your team members.

  • Commitment:
Attend Fall leader training. At this training we cover teaching covenants, skill building, safety, and team logistics. Training is Saturday, August 27th
  • Commit to working on a team of 4-6 people to rotate leadership.

This translates to:

  • average of 2 Sundays a month in the classroom (1 as lead; 1 as assistant).
  • regular team meetings (about once every 4-6 weeks)
