An engaging, interactive and fun workshop for leaders and laypeople in the San Diego Cluster of Unitarian Universalist congregations.

You're invited! People of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, abilities, sexual or affectional orientations, ages, social classes, educational levels and other identities are invited to participate.

How do we create an environment where everyone who walks through our doors feels included, engaged and valued?
  • We begin by addressing our assumptions and unpacking our biases.
  • We strengthen our foundation of core values by understanding why the work of racial justice and healing is important for all of us to engage in.
  • We broaden our focus to include all of the ways people are oppressed or marginalized.
  • We ask: What does being inclusive and diverse really mean?
  • We recognize that we all participate in a variety of cultures (family, community, male, female, LGBTQQ, church, age group, etc.). These cultures are created and perpetuated by the people who participate in and interact with them.
  • In order to interact in positive ways with cultures that are not part of our own personal identity, we learn strategies for interpersonal interaction.
  • We are willing to take risks, and accept the reality that we will make mistakes on this journey and learn from them.
  • In this way, we become more confident as intercultural beings.

This San Diego Cluster-wide workshop is sponsored by Journey Toward Wholeness (JTW) and is made possible through the generous donations of treasure, time and talent of the staff, board, members and friends of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego.
