Joined the staff in 1980.
A native San Diegan, Dan graduated from St. Augustine High School, in North Park. He completed a degree in Psychology at Santa Clara University and then returned to school to study Music. He was a Vocal major as an undergraduate and has his Master's Degree in Conducting and Early Music from San Diego State University. Gradually, handyman jobs became more musical ones, including singing, leading orchestras for musical theater, and eight years as the Associate Conductor of the San Diego Master Chorale. In addition to directing ourChalice Choir, he teaches music part time at Mesa College, conducts the New City Sinfonia (a community chamber orchestra), and directs Pacific Camerata, an early music choral ensemble.
While at First Church, Dan has gained a deeper understanding of the importance of music in worship and in the larger community, and this has motivated him to serve on the Boards of the San Diego Early Music Society, the UU Musicians Network, and the San Diego Young Artists Symphony.
