Families with children in our program were invited to a Pizza Dinner and Conversation on March 31. The conversation was facilitated by Rev. Jeanelyse Doran Adams from the Pacific Central District of the Unitarian Universalist Association. While the children were in a session of their own, the parents brainstormed responses to a variety of questions. The first question was "What are you seeking at First Church?"
The brainstormed answers are listed below. If you participated in this conversation and want to clarify what you said, or if you missed the event and want to add your response, please add a comment.
In the next few days I will post the rest of the questions and responses. You are invited to add your clarifications and additional responses. Let's make this a conversation that represents all of our families.
What you are seeking:
For our children : growth , diversity, a place to seek, social justice,
A safe non-dogmatic place for our children
A place to give religion a positive context
A place for adults, children and youth to be part of the community
A UU RE community
Adults with shared values so children have role models
An intellectual atmosphere
Networking - to connect around issues and toward goals.
