Caring Council

Mission

The Caring Council is a voluntary organization dedicated to building and supporting a movement focused on changing the structures, conditions, and systems that create and maintain poverty.

First Church has a Caring Council Affiliate Group within the Social Justice Program.

Programs and Activities

Education

Public information in the area of poverty, recently on San Diego County participation in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as Food Stamps.

Witness

Worked with SPIN to develop and get funding for a study of hunger and barriers to SNAP in San Diego County, now published and available on the web site www.caringcouncilsd.org.

Advocacy

Work to increase San Diego County participation in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as Food Stamps.
