Build, Do, Imagine! Be a part of Summer Religious Education

Our Summer Religious Education program is right around the corner! This co-operative model of providing engaging and enriching programming for our children depends on all of us pitching in! While it is expected that all families with children in the program volunteer in the classroom at least once, this is also an excellent opportunity for people without kids to get in on the fun!

There are 3 exciting class opportunities for you to consider:

June only!
Skillz Suundays!

During the month of June we will be transforming our children’s religious education program at Hillcrest into a time of learning and sharing skills. In these Skillz SUUndays members and friends of the congregation will have the opportunity to share a skill with our children. Consider this, can you:

Fold a shirt, Tie knots, Sew on a button, Make a P,B,& J, Use a hammer, screw driver, or drill, 0Do calligraphy or write in cursive, Greet people in multiple languages, Build a bird house, Pot a plant, Use a microscope, Play chess (or some other game), Create a circuit, Build a lego chalice, Make a pillow, Do a magic trick, Fold origami

Or perhaps you have another skill that kids would love to learn! The commitment is 1 or more Sundays during the 9:30am Children’s Religious Education class (9:15 to 10:45).

e-mail Dr. Melissa (melissa@firstuusandiego.org) to sign up to offer a skill!

Lead or assist in one of our awesome classrooms!

UU Challengers (7+ years old)

UU Challengers is a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math)-based curriculum with a UU lens. Based in our UU principles and sources we will use project-based learning and group challenges to explore the world. Every week participants will be faced with a STEAM challenge they must complete together. From building bridges to protecting falling eggs this hands-on class will be a blast! (sometimes literally!)
