Hi Arvid. I was really moved by your Recovery with Grace sermon from 2011. I have been part of OA for a year now, and struggle on and off with the strength of connection I have with a higher power. One thing you didn't mention is the line in the Big Book about "acting as if" and letting that be enough until one is ready to accept help from god, as we understand god. That was the only way I could get byond my fear and into recovery.
Glad I found you today,

Hi Jennifer. I remember you and I'm glad to hear from you. I'm glad you found the sermon useful. Also, I agree that your suggestion acting as if is a good one for many UUs.

Blessings for your recovery.

Are you still with the San Diego Church, and could I get a copy of your sermon on addiction, grace and recovery?

Kennette, Arvid is still at First Church but retiring at the end of June 2014. We do not have text copies of the sermons, but the video is available online. This particular one is at http://vimeo.com/29233877.
