Interim Director of Family and Lifespan Ministry

We’re happy to share the news that we have expanded Tony Bianca’s hours to cover more responsibilities within the Family and Lifespan Ministry program. Tony will be the point person for Family and Lifespan ministry needs through October. We’re grateful to Tony’s flexibility and especially for his care of and for our children, families and our programs.

RE Families and Teachers are invited to a forum with Kathleen on Saturday, September 22 from 10 am -11:30 am in the Common Room to discuss your thoughts, ideas, needs and hopes for our program. Childcare will be provided. This will be one of three forums to ensure all can participate and be heard. We’re planning the other forums to happen sometime in October and in early December.

Rev. Kathleen Owens Sabbatical

Our church, the UUA and the Ministers’ Association all recognize the importance of ministers having a sabbatical, and Kathleen will be going on her sabbatical soon. Her Letter of Agreement stipulates that she accumulates one month for every year served and can take up to four months after every four years. Her last sabbatical was in 2012/13. After postponing a year, she’s now taking 4 months this year. She’ll be gone from Sept. 25 — Nov. 18 back on Nov. 20 through the holiday season and gone again from Jan. 2 — Feb. 28, returning on March 1. The theme of her sabbatical is Sacred Geography. Read September’s First Words for details about her travels.
